a little earlier in the glob, i mentioned that Gigi's eighth anniversary was on april 14.
but we decided to actually CELEBRATE it saturday of easter weekend when lots of kids were in town.
so here are some pics of the festivities!
we had BALLOONS and CUPCAKES and GLITTER TATTOOS...
we also put all of the past "wall of fab" photo albums out on the table for people to look through and reminisce...
it is currently a collection of 15 photo albums consisting of all the kids through the years who have stood still long enough for us to take a picture of them!
david and i did the glitter tattoos ourselves... which is definitely one of the perks of owning a children's store. we can hire people to do the real work, while we get to hang out with kids and play!
these cute girls brought us a gift!
they painted it themselves! i love it so much.
if you love looking at pictures as much as me, here is a glob post we did last year at this time showing previous years' anniversary celebrations. don't you love looking back at old pictures and seeing all the little gradual changes that take place?
THANK YOU ALL so much for eight fun filled years!
all of us at Gigi's are truly grateful and HONORED to be a part of your kids' childhood memories...
and a super BIG thank you to our wonderful staff. seriously could not have done it without you. carol, rita, alex, haley, krystle, vicki, and caitlin... you guys are the BEST!!!
here's to many many more!
EASTER morning in rosemary beach... so funny how the eggs aren't even hidden.
well, i guess they are, just behind really short blades of grass.
they were all gone in less than two minutes...
the kids acted as human vacuum cleaners! quite a sight.
then the easter bunny showed up at Gigi's to sit with the children and get photos taken.
i've featured the pictures of just two of the families below.
i felt that these two families kind of sum up all of the emotions of the morning...
i personally can totally relate to this first one.
although, i NEVER actually got near enough to an easter bunny or a santa claus to even be able to TAKE a picture like this...
when i was little, i refused to walk inside a mall if i knew that one of these characters was in there! i really thought that sweet bunny was going to turn into a monster and eat me. maybe that's what this sweet little boy with the real tears was thinking... meanwhile, look how calm his sister is.
and then there is this next family... total opposite. these two could have sat there and loved on that big stuffed animal forever!
piece of cake!
(actually, i look a little nervous don't i?)
this year, we took pictures of EVERY kid that sat with the easter bunny on sunday. you can view them on our gigi's facebook page by clicking here.
and here is an easter 2010 post featuring select pictures from last year's bunny visit.
and here is one more post featuring pictures from the easter archives...
hope you had a wonderful EASTER!
ALEX is 9 years old,
but will be TEN really really soon...
he recently got a guitar
and his dad is teaching him to play!
his favorite sport is FOOTBALL,
favorite team is ole miss.
he has played flag football for two years now,
and plans to start playing tackle football pretty soon!
he is a very NEAT person and a great helper...
he likes everything in it's proper place.
so it's an extra treat when he comes to Gigi's,
because not only do we get to visit with him,
but while he shops,
he just can't help but organize the shelves too!
he enjoys playing video games every once in a while,
but really just loves playing outdoors
with his brother THOMAS, his sister ANNA,
ALEX has always loved the crazy hats
and dress up clothes at Gigi's!
here he is dressing up at Gigi's
when he was really little
with his younger brother!
his favorite treat is ICE CREAM, heck yeah.
specifically the cookie monster from SUGAR SHAK
which is ice cream served with cookies and hot fudge.
his favorite meal includes pizza, queso, and chips
from COWGIRL KITCHEN.
ALEX is extremely good at strategic games...
i should know, because he WOOPED me
at one of my favorite games, ACUITY!
soooo it's about time to start writing my news column
for the summer edition of the ROSEMARY THYMES...
and i need your input!
come by the store for an interview
if you have ANY great news
that you would like to share with the world.
and if you HAVE lost a tooth recently,
and may you find some comfort
in these super fun lost tooth related items
available at Gigi's:
it's news the way kids like to tell it...
all good, mostly true, and of course totally earth shattering!
this photo is by COCOA.
do you remember my young friend cocoa?
she wrote a guest glob for us last year about photography.
i've known her since she was like 5 or something,
and now she is sixteen!
i've been following her work on her blog, her website,
& her facebook page (links below!)
and am truly amazed by her talent at such a young age.
so when she told me she was coming to the beach
for her spring break,
i hired her up to do a little photo shoot for the store...
the kids loved her!
she made the shoot so fun for them,
like it wasn't even work at all.
she's still a kid too
so she knows how important it is to PLAY!
here are some of the behind the scenes photos that i took
of COCOA and the kids during the shoot.
sugar plays an important role
in getting energetic poses from the kids.
that is my favorite new dress from mimi and maggie, btw.
the kids were under her spell...
they would do anything she asked!
no, this is not a crime scene...
this is cocoa taking a close up of maggie!
how cute is maggie lee!?
love this dress she is wearing by pink tomatina.
henry is being photographed behind her
in monster republic.
sam gets his closeup, wearing wes and willy.
kim and vicki were close by
watching their kids work the camera.
jack, wearing little joules, telling me something profound
while maggie poses behind him in custo barcelona.
vicki is holding haley's baby cromwell (wearing zutano),
it was his first photo shoot!
the kids "working" hard!
how sweet is anderson,
holding emjane's hand!
while we were down on the beach,
this guy caught a pretty impressive fish!
i think he called it a redfish, even though it's white?
maggie lee went all the way up the stairs
without tripping on her dress.
i was impressed because i know i would have.
heading back to Gigi's.
one last look back at the beach.
sigh. so beautiful.
sometimes i can't believe we are really this lucky.
it is so awesome being surrounded
by such beauty at work!
henry and jack look a little bit tired
of being hounded by the paparazzi.
now go see some of HER amazing shots!
YAY KID POWER!!!
MARY WARRINER is 9 years old
and loooooves sports...
especially basketball, soccer, and la crosse.
when she grows up
she would like to be a BASKETBALL player
for SMU in dallas, tx.
but before that, she hopes to play SOCCER
for highland park high school,
just like her mom did!
her favorite color is ORANGE.
her favorite treat is frozen yogurt.
she also likes the BELLYACHE at sugar shak!
and has taken trips to LONDON, cape cod, and new york!
her favorite place was NYC...
she even got to go in the empire state building!
MARY WARRINER has an equally awesome
twin sister named MARGARET!
why, it's our pleasure!
this sweet guy put them on his bike.
his friend put one on his skate helmet.
had some girls come in and ask for some to put on
their summer camp trunks...
hope they send us some pictures of that!
we'd love to see it and feature you on the glob!
zap us a pic by email gigisfabkidsATembarqmailDOTcom
(read some where that if i spell out the "@" and the "."
that i will get less junk mail... don't know if it's true?)
or you can post it on our facebook page...
and THANK YOU...
we are so honored!
