treasure boxes

last summer we started something called "WHAT'S UP"...

a free activity/mini event on the picnic table out front,

hosted by miss cocoa...

well, this summer we are doing it again,

and your kids are invited to join in!

every weekday usually from 2-5

depending on weather...

and sometimes on weekend days too.

here are some pics

from one of those activities last year...

on this particular day we made treasure boxes

out of these really cool CHOOZE shoe boxes!

kids colored the preprinted designs on the boxes

and then picked out little treasures to fill them with....

we just got a new shipment of CHOOZE shoes in,

so you will probably see this simple and fun activity

pop up again soon!

starting this memorial day weekend!

by the way, we always have

an alaqua animal refuge donation jar

on the "what's up" table... 

a donation to the homeless animals

is much appreciated!

memorial rock for miko the cat

STARS of the week... christian, shelton, and scott!

this past weekend

some sweet polite boys asked if they could perform

in front of our store, and we said

are you kidding!?  go knock'em dead!

 

we weren't prepared to hear such greatness...

they were amazing!

they harmonized so sweetly,

they smiled when they sang,

and they mesmerized the shoppers

and diners out on the sidewalk!

 

this is SHELTON and he is 13 years old...

he plays the guitar and the ukelele

and he's learning piano...

plus he sings! 

he likes to do the breakouts and runs when he sings...

 

this is CHRISTIAN on the left...  he is 11 years old. 

his brothers say he has a really strong voice

for singing the melody in their songs...

that's SCOTT on the right...  he is 15 years old.

he sings harmony

and sometimes he plays the bongo!

 

together they are incredible...

but they're not entirely sure what to call their group yet...

so for now they just go by the welch brothers,

which i think is super catchy!

are from a line called BELLA BUFFA

(pronounced bell-a boof-a)...

it's a brand new line of children's clothing

that actually made it's DEBUT in our store this spring

and is designed by our very own team member VICKI!



















VICKI and her sister JANA

started their own line of children's clothing

as a way to employ (and empower)

women in the dominican republic...

a place that is very dear to their hearts.

the spring line has been selling like cracker jacks,

and their exciting new fall line is in the works!

YAYY VICKI, we are so proud of you!

ecms color run!

the emerald coast middle school's

paint'n the rays one mile & 5k color run

happened last friday evening...  so much fun!

alex and i set up a booth

to share some gigi's temporary tattoo love,

then alex ran the one mile

with her super speedy little boy lennon,

while i participated in the 5k...

as we ran, kids stationed at different places

along the route threw colorful dust at us...

we learned it was actually corn starch,

but i liked to pretend it was magic fairy powder

that made you run super fast!

we made sure miss cocoa was there with her camera

to capture it all:

this was the first time ECMS has done this race...

but i heard lots of people say they couldn't wait

to do it again next year... ourselves included!

mother's day heart flower project

yesterday once the clouds parted and the rain stopped

the flowers started blooming!

miss cocoa set up the art table out front

and helped some kids make these adorable flowers

for their moms for mother's day

using just paper hearts, popsicle sticks,

pom poms, and the all important glue dots...



















as for the moms of the fabulous kids

featured in today's glob,

if they haven't actually given you your gift yet,

please try to act surprised when they do!

this evening at 5:00 is EMERALD COAST

MIDDLE SCHOOL'S "paint'n the rays"

one mile and 5k fun run!

runners will be given a clean white tshirt

to start the race in...

by the end of the race,

runners will have become colorful works of art...

quite appropriate way to start this arts quest weekend!

 

race packet pick up starts at 3:30

and gigi's will be on hand

to decorate kids with free gigi's temporary tattoos!

 

come on out...
