we look a little soggy don't we?
this is right after we completed the ice bucket challenge
for FOOD FOR THOUGHT
which is a wonderful non-profit
that provides food and meals to local children in need.
they each poured a bucket of ice water on their heads
and videotaped it for all to see,
while challenging three more people to do the same,
AND of course to send in a donation!
one of them challenged
local photographer JACKIE WARD
who then challenged our own MISS COCOA
who then challenged ME....
it's interesting to see how far down the line it goes,
and it spreads exponentially!
Cocoa and I decided to take our cold water plunge
in front of Gigi's...
you know, in the middle of a day at work.
and as you can see from the following videos,
we inspired a few more adventurous and giving
people who asked if they could take the challenge too!
see more local #icebucketchallenge videos
on the FOOD FOR THOUGHT facebook page!
and if this looks like your idea of fun,
consider yourself challenged!
proceed to dump a bucket of ice water on your head
and send them a check, pronto! :)
(you can even donate online HERE!)
it was a BEEEAUTIFUL day sunday,
the day of the 12th annual vera bradley presents
and cocoa L. photography was there
to capture it all for the glob!
see if you can spot yourself
or someone you love!
looking down because i'm always afraid i'm going to trip
in front of the crowds at the very end!
our friends from THI BOD fitness studio!
this is my poppy...
he won FIRST PLACE in his age division in the 5k
for the second year in a row!
he hopes to eventually have
a big collection of these goblets!
i got my vera bradley bag, my medal, a banana,
AND a cheering husband!
such a beautiful day, a fun event, a great cause...

this is one of our favorite "what's up" projects:
making WISHLETS out of random stuff...
this time we used a rubbery jellyish cord,
tiny jingle bells, and assorted beads.
kids love designing their own one-of-a-kind wishlet.
we call them wishlets because
kids can make a wish
as they tie one on to their wrist,
and when the knot breaks eventually
their wish comes true!
(this usually takes the sting out of breaking
a favorite piece of jewelry)
hope they all wished for something great!

2013 was a great year at Gigi's!
this year we celebrated ten whole years of fun,
and we look forward to many more...
thanks to all of our fabulous friends,
who keep coming back to hang with us,
plus all of our brand new friends...
thank you all for letting us be a small part
of your childhood memories!
here are some of those memories now:
thanks, friends, you totally rock!
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL OF US AT GIGI'S!
MISS COCOA recently did a photo shoot
in my own back yard...
we wanted to photograph our little friends
MAGGIE LEE and LENNON by the pool
and my pool seemed most convenient.
it also meant that my sweet MERLE
found her chance to get in on the fun...
here are some of her photobombing outtakes!
"i'm ready for my closeup!"
i think MERLE makes a great model, don't you!?
by the way, we adopted MERLE and her sister GOLDIE
from ALAQUA ANIMAL REFUGE...
if you are thinking about adopting a new pet,
you should go there too!
all photos by cocoa L photography!
our friends sophie and ellie came by to show us
these tote bags they created themselves...
they made them during a sewing lesson
by repurposing two of their favorite dresses
that they got from gigi's year ago
and had grown out of!
these girls are so smart and creative...
what a great idea they had
to prolong the life of their favorite dresses!

did you know we have gigi's temporary tattoos?
everyone's a STAR at gigi's!

here are pics of some creative kids
who sat down with miss cocoa recently
to create their own one of a kind wishlet bracelets
they made a wish when they tied it on...
the plan is to wear it all summer long
and their wish will come true when it finally falls off!

of last year's wishlet project!
thanks cocoa L. photography!
this past weekend
some sweet polite boys asked if they could perform
in front of our store, and we said
are you kidding!? go knock'em dead!
we weren't prepared to hear such greatness...
they were amazing!
they harmonized so sweetly,
they smiled when they sang,
and they mesmerized the shoppers
and diners out on the sidewalk!
this is SHELTON and he is 13 years old...
he plays the guitar and the ukelele
and he's learning piano...
plus he sings!
he likes to do the breakouts and runs when he sings...
this is CHRISTIAN on the left... he is 11 years old.
his brothers say he has a really strong voice
for singing the melody in their songs...
that's SCOTT on the right... he is 15 years old.
he sings harmony
and sometimes he plays the bongo!
together they are incredible...
but they're not entirely sure what to call their group yet...
so for now they just go by the welch brothers,
which i think is super catchy!
here's a little video of one of their songs:
