hello everybody!
it's me ELIZABETH and i want to tell you
about my experience at this year's
MARDI GRAS in NEW ORLEANS!
i am 12 years old, i live in NEW ORLEANS,
and i LOVE going to parades!
here i am wearing my MARDI GRAS colors
with my big bag for collecting beads in.
people riding on the floats throw beads
all along the parade route and it is fun to catch them!
i went to a bunch of parades this year.
the MARDI GRAS parades I went to were
Caesar, Carollton, King Arthur, Muses, Hermes,
Krewe D’Etat, Iris, Okeanos, Thoth, Bacchus, and Tucks.
my favorite parade is Muses
because their theme is always a shoe and I love shoes!
i even caught a shoe this time!
in the Bacchus parade,
they usually have a celebrity as King.
this year Will Ferrell was King!
usually the names of Mardi Gras parades
are based off of Greek gods or goddesses.
Mardi Gras actually didn’t start in New Orleans.
it started in Paris long ago in the Middle Ages.
King Cake is a DELICIOUS treat
to have in the Mardi Gras season.
it is decorated in the Mardi Gras colors
purple, green, and gold.
in each King Cake there is a little pink toy baby.
who ever gets the baby has to bring the next King Cake.
it's always local people that ride in the parades.
in every parade there is always a marching band,
horses, cheerleaders, or bands on miniature floats!
one of my FAVORITE marching bands
is the 610 Stompers...
you may have seen them
in the last Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
they are awesome
and i just found out that one of the stompers
actually lives in rosemary beach!
well, thanks for tuning in...
there will be another glob coming up
that i wrote but it will be a mystery!
HAPPY MARDI GRAS!
